PROCEEDS

The Swan City Rotary Club is proud to have given back over the past 19 years.
This year’s Lottery proceeds will go towards the following community programs and projects:

Benzanson School Booster Club

Lottery proceeds will be used to purchase & install a new playground at the Bezanson School.  The current and only playground in Bezanson is over 30 years old.

The purpose of the Bezanson School Booster Club is to enhance the educational, cultural and recreational opportunities available to the Bezanson School Community. The MSMC aims to support Bezanson School through fundraising. Previously we have secured enough funds to install a new sounds system with extra mikes for the gymnasium, purchase new basketball, volleyball and running club uniforms, a new projector and most recently, assisted in purchasing lounge furniture for the junior high wing in our new portables!

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools Education Foundation

Lottery proceeds will be used to enhance educational experiences in Catholic schools through special project funds.  Proceeds will also support sporting expenses for the high schools, Awards scholarships and the school Snack Programs.  The Foundation also supports the GPCSD School Projects that inspire learning, enrich teaching and nurture the spirit in the school community through volunteer groups.

Grande Prairie Gymnastics

Lottery proceeds will be used towards coaches training.  The Grande Prairie Gymnastics Club has been a part of the Grande Prairie Community for over 40 years.  Their vision is to inspire a foundation of excellence within the community.

Grande Prairie Minor Baseball

Lottery Proceeds will be used towards replacing league equipment, purchase of maintenance equipment, as well as facility expenses for winter camps.  The Grande Prairie Minor Baseball offers baseball enthusiasts the chance to develop their skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Grande Prairie Rotary After Five Club

Lottery proceeds will be used to support local, national and international initiatives with the spirit of Rotary.  Currently Rotary After Five is raising funds  to support the Friendship Centre.

Spinal Cord Injury Alberta

Lottery Proceeds will be used towards emergency funds, equipment, peer conference tuitions, travel, fund housing, job equipment, and education funding. The need for services for those with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities is as important today as it was in 1945. In fact, this need will continue to grow! The Peer Program provides support, guidance and mentorship from someone "who's been there" through one on one interaction and group events. Their services also include equipment and repairs and support of medical trips.

Suicide Prevention Resource Centre

Lottery Proceeds will go towards accommodation costs of the Breakfast Club Teen Retreats.  These retreats are for teens who have been referred by teachers, parents, AHS, or CFS or are self-referred because they are struggling to cope with their life situations.  Other programs include the Tough Enough to Talk About It program which began in 1999 under the name Men at Risk. The original program was created because statistics identified that a high percentage of suicide deaths in northern Alberta occurred in industry, trades and agriculture. By 2016, industrial workplaces had evolved to include a significant number of female employees, and the program was re-branded Tough Enough to Talk About It in recognition of this changing dynamic. Tough Enough offers workplace presentations, leadership seminars, and videos to address mental health in the workplace – starting conversations that may save lives.

Swan City Rotary Club

Annual lottery proceeds support approximately 50 local nonprofits, charities and other Swan City Rotary projects. The Swan City Rotary Club is a service club with the guiding principles of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity and leadership.  Rotary is a global network of neighbors, friends, leaders and problem solvers who come together to make positive and lasting change in communities at home and abroad.
